The primary objective being to promote interaction and collaboration between faculty, staff and students of the two institutions, the IIPE Visakhapatnam and TAMU have signed an MoU for institutional collaboration. Academic and research programmes as well as joint monitoring of the students will be brought about forthwith. The forward thinking collaboration is also aimed at a close partnership between the two nations in terms of technological, social and cultural sharing. A great step forward for advancement of knowledge between nations and a close partnership.
IIPE Visakhapatnam was established under Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act 2014 under the aegis of Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India. It addresses the advancements and qualitative needs of the said industry and facilitates research in various key areas. This covers Shale Gas, Coal Bed Methane, Gas Hydrates, Renewable Energy and Gas etc. The institute offers a specialized curriculum for advanced technology and science programmes at both post graduate and doctoral levels. At graduate level, there are B.Tech Petroleum Engineering and BTech Chemical Engineering.
After all this being said, Visakhapatnam is the absolutely best location for this institute. It is to be set up at Vangali Village, Sabbavaram mandal, Visakhapatnam district and the Andhra Pradesh government has allocated area for the same. Currently, it is operating out of Andhra University College of Engineering. IIT Kharagpur is the academic mentor for guiding academic operations at IIPE.
