The Indian Army conducted surgical strikes across the LoC (Line of Control) in Pakistan killing several terrorists. Director General of Military Operation Lt General Ranbir Singh said that the Army has conducted surgical strikes on terror launch pads on the LoC, causing significant casualties. The terrorists were planning to infiltrate our territory so the motive of the operation was to neutralise them. “Significant casualties have been caused to terrorists and those trying to shield them. We don’t have a plan to further conduct such strikes. India has spoken to Pakistan,” he said.
The Indian Army’s special commandos crossed LoC last night and conducted the operation in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir. They returned back to India without any casualties. The entire operation was monitored by Defense Minister Manohar Parrikar, Army Chief General Dalbir Singh Suhag and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval at the Army headquarters in New Delhi. The attack was carried out with full knowledge of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Pranab Mukherjee and Jammu and Kashmir Governor and CM Mehbooba Mufti.
The rising tension between India and Pakistan had an affect on India’s financial markets with the Sensex crashing over 500 points.
Two Pakistani soldiers were killed in the firing. The attack has since been labelled as “unprovoked and naked aggression” by Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. A Pakistan news agency even called the attack ‘unprovoked’. A statement by Pakistan military states that the attack was no surgical strike by India, it was instead a cross border firing.
The Obama administration on the other hand affirmed it’s support to India on Wednesday on the issue of cross border terrorism. A top US official even stated that India has shown responsible behaviour with nuclear technology while Pakistan has done exactly the opposite.
No matter what, India has finally bared its teeth and proved it will not take things lying down.
