The cricket fans in Visakhapatnam witnessed yet another rollicking performance by the Indian Cricket Team. Sunday’s match against Sri Lanka in Visakhapatnam saw the Indians pummel the Islanders with some dominating game play. Here’s how the match panned out in favour of India.
Match details
After winning the toss, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma chose to bowl first hoping to restrict the visitors to a modest score. Thanks to a breezy 95 from the bat of Upul Tharanga, Sri Lanka managed to put up 215 on the board. The score, however, proved to be too little for the Indian batsmen who blew the Lankan bowlers away. A blistering 100* by Shikhar Dhawan and a brilliant half-century by Shreyas Iyer ensured yet another series victory for India.
Continuing the love affair with Visakhapatnam
Visakhapatnam once again proved to be a happy hunting ground for the Indian Cricket Team. Be it MS Dhoni’s blitzkrieg against Pakistan in 2005, Yuvraj Singh’s match-winning knock against Sri Lanka in 2007, or even Virat Kohli’s heroics against the Aussies in 2010, Visakhapatnam has always held a special place in Indian cricket. Sunday’s match proved no different and resulted in India winning its 8th consecutive ODI series.
The players leave the city
After treating the fans with some competitive cricket, the players of both the teams have left for their respective destinations. The cricketers, who were lodged at Novotel for the past two days, left to the airport this morning and here are some exclusive photos.
