iHub (Intelligent Hub), a first-of-its-kind global research centre for scientific learning would be set up in Andhra Pradesh.
With a starting investment of Rs 245 crores, the iHub would be established in the state as the State Government signed an MOU with UNESCO and Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Education for Peace and Sustainable Development (MGIEP).
The location for the setup is yet to be finalised as the officials are in research according to the required essentialities.
“There will be an initial seed funding of Rs 245 crore for startups and operational expenses. Our government will provide a guaranteed demand from government schools for training purpose and also the educational institutions can procure learning products from the International Hub. It will have a license to operate Global Design University also,” an official told PTI.
The official mentioned that with only two percent is digitised out of USD 5 trillion and thus the Andhra Pradesh Government has come up with the Intelligent Hub idea.
“Some of the social and economic objectives of iHub will be to create 50,000 future-ready skilled manpower, reduced school dropouts and capture the EdTech market,” the official said.
In various branches such as neuroscience, education, psychology, digital instructional design, educational technology, Artificial Intelligence, data sciences and gaming, about 40 International researchers would be provided as the initial staff.
While the cost of setting up would be three million USD and annual expenses of 2.2 million USD, consultancy services, publications, seminars, hackathons, and patents would provide the returns for the organisation.
The official said that “Global Certification” would be issued for the Hub.
