The ongoing edition of the IPL has been a pretty exciting one thus far. From gripping us with some last-over thrillers to raking up quite a few controversies, the 2019 season has been flaunting all the typical flavours of the IPL. While the fans have been getting plenty to cheer about, one question continues to persist among those in the city-“Will Vizag get to host an IPL match this year?”
It is known that the BCCI had announced Vizag as a standby venue for this year’s IPL. While all the eight teams will get to play home games in their home cities, the ACA VDCA stadium in Vizag is earmarked as a backup option in case of any last moment change of venue, given the poll season across the country.
In this regard, IPL tournament Operations Director Catherine Simpson, along with six of her colleagues, visited the ACA VDCA stadium in Vizag on Wednesday to review the venue and keep it in readiness, if the need arises.
CH Arun Kumar took the team around the ground and briefed on several amenities that it has on offer. As reported
by Sportstar, Mr. Kumar said that Vizag will be ready to host an IPL game. Reportedly, the official also informed that the delegation was impressed with the facilities and playing conditions on offer at the venue. It may be recalled that Vizag last hosted an IPL game in 2016 when the Rising Pune Super Giants took on the Kings XI Punjab.
