The defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are bracing up for their second match, after a forgettable start to the tournament. And so is the newly formed franchise Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), who had lost to Gujarat Titans by 5 wickets in their IPL debut. Though both the teams looked strong on paper, they failed to deliver on the pitch, leaving their fans in disappointment. As both teams look forward to getting on winning ways, take a look at the detailed pre-match report of the 6th match of IPL 2022- CSK vs LSG.
Despite going back to the pavilion in the very first over in the inaugural match against KKR, CSK’s hopes lie in Ruturaj. Devon Conway is sure to retain his spot. CSK might toy with the idea of replacing Shivam Dube with KM Asif, owing to the failure of the bowling department in the first match. CSK, who already have enough all-rounders in their playing XI, including the skipper himself, will definitely look forward to strengthening their bowling line-up, which looks weak without Deepak Chahar. The team will look forward to Adam Milne for an early breakthrough in the powerplay. Dwayne Bravo’s spell will play a crucial role in the middle and death overs. Moeen was seen practising in the nets and might replace Mitchell Santner, to boost their top order.
Playing XI: Ruturaj Gaikwad, Devon Conway, Moeen Ali, Robin Uthappa, Ambati Rayudu, Ravindra Jadeja (c), MS Dhoni (wk), Dwayne Bravo, Adam Milne, Tushar Deshpande, KM Asif.
All thanks to Deepak Hooda and Ayush Badoni, and the late fireworks from Kruanl, LSG could put up a respectable total on the board in their first match. The top order failed like a house of cards, who have become victims to the onslaught of Gujarat bowlers. As per our prediction, skipper KL Rahul might go ahead with the same playing 11, despite the loss.
Playing XI: KL Rahul (c), Quinton de Kock (wk), Evin Lewis, Manish Pandey, Deepak Hooda, Krunal Pandya, Mohsin Khan, Ayush Badoni, Dushmantha Chameera, Ravi Bishnoi, Avesh Khan
The Brabourne Stadium is known to be a batsmen’s heaven, with an average first innings score of close to 180 in the 11 matches hosted here. Batting second has favoured the teams here, in line with this season’s trend of choosing to bowl first.
Out of the 6 matches played this season, teams batting second have won on 5 occasions, with SRH being the only exemption. In all the matches this season, the captain winning the toss has chosen to bowl first and the same is expected to happen today.
