“Learning that I am suffering from NeuroEndocrine Tumour has been tough but the love and strength of people around me have brought me to a place of hope.”
An endocrine tumour is a mass that begins in the parts of the body that produce and release hormones. These tumours mostly occur in the intestine, where they are often called carcinoid tumors, but they are also found in the pancreas, lung and the rest of the body.
Earlier, Irrfan Khan sent out a tweet saying that he is suffering from a rare disease. “Sometimes you wake up with a jolt with life-shaking you up. The last fifteen days, my life has been a suspense story. Little had I known that my search for rare stories would make me find a rare disease. I have never given up and have always fought for my choices and always will. My family and friends are with me and we are working it out the best way possible. In trying times, please don’t speculate as I will myself share with you my story within a week – ten days when the further investigations come with a conclusive diagnosis. Till then, wish the best for me,” the actor had tweeted.
Irrfan Khan is well-renowned for his acting prowess. While his roles in the Indian films of Maqbool, Paan Singh Tomar, and Piku among others won him national accolades, Hollywood films of Slumdog Millionaire and Life of Pi got him international recognition. The actor was even awarded the National Award in 2013 for his performance in Paan Singh Tomar.
