Jr NTR’s Jai Lava Kusa, which released in September last year, was one among the three South Indian films that were screened at the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival this year. The other two films were Tamil film Mersal and Malayalam film Ezra. Hindi films, Tiger Zinda Hai, Mom, and Secret Superstar were the other Indian films to be screened at the festival.
The festival, which was held from July 12 to 22, saw the South Indian films receive appreciation from the audience.
Jai Lava Kusa, which was directed by KS Ravindra a.k.a Bobby, was one of the most successful Telugu films at the box office last year. The film had Jr NTR
play three different roles, including one that of ‘Raavana’, which stood as the main attraction. The actor won accolades from different quarters for his riveting performance and was even honourned with several awards. Jai Lava Kusa, in its full run, raked in close to Rs 175 crores worldwide.Mersal, which starred Vijay, was directed by Atlee and had its story penned by Vijayendra Prasad. The film struck gold at the box office and collected close to Rs 250 crores worldwide. Ezra, on the other hand, is a popular Malayalam film that had Prithviraj Sukumaran in its lead.
Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival is an International film festival held annually in July in Bucheon, South Korea. Started in 1997, the festival caters significance to Asian cinema.
