Junior Chamber International (JCI) Vizag, the World’s largest network of young active citizens of age 18-40 years, is all set to organise the 16th edition of Special Olympics. The event is held annually to encourage the inherent sporting talent of Specially Abled Children from the districts of Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, and Srikakulam.
Several sporting competitions are conducted at Special Olympics to engage the specially abled children of different age groups. Being held since the year 2000, the event has been witnessing increasing number of participants with each event.
Special Olympics 2017 is expected to have even a higher number of participants. Informedly, as many as 100 events will be conducted for girls and boys in badminton, shot put, discus throw, javelin, relay, and others. The participants will be classified into different categories depending on their age group. While the first two categories are catered for people ranging in the age group of 8-12 and 12-20 respectively, the third category is for those who are aged above 20 years.
This joyous sporting event is supervised and conducted by professional teams of coaches and sports authorities. A qualified medical team and a group of volunteers would also be present at the locale.
The event is open to all and any interested candidate can participate for free of cost.
