Move over Amitabh Bachchan, there’s a new ‘angry young man’ in town – Dulquer Salmaan. (We love you Amitabh.) Sai Pallavi of Premam fame and Dulquer of Bangalore Days fame come together for this gripping tale of human emotion and flaws. Dulquer in this movie is literally every short-tempered person you know digging their own holes.
What it’s about:
Siddharth (Dulquer) has anger issues and he keeps letting them get the better of him. His wife Anjali (Sai Pallavi), who married him against their parents wishes, is the only calm nook in his life. Kali is all about how Siddharth’s rage puts him and Anjali in a life-threatening situation.
Why you should watch it:
The slightest of provocation seems to set off Siddharth and first half of the movie mostly portrays his journey from an angry child to an angry adult. The shift into dark and chaotic after the interval with the duo stuck in the middle of nowhere and situations worsening because he can’t keep his anger in check is pulled off well. Unlike every cliché South Indian movie, Kali does not bring a transformation in Siddharth, like it is not prone to be in real life. He is still an aggressive person by the end of it, if only a bit humbler after his confrontation with way more aggressive humans.
