Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao decided to dissolve the Assembly and met the Governor on Thursday to ask the same. After finishing a meeting with the state cabinet, KCR went to the Raj Bhavan and met the Governor and submitted the copy of the cabinet resolution.
With Governor ESL Narasimhan accepting the plea, the stage has been set for early polls in Telangana. In a meeting that lasted for about 20 minutes, Chief Minister KCR and other party members were seen approving the resolution made.
While the polls were originally slated to be held next year, KCR wanted them to happen along with those in the states of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh, and Mizoram in December this year. Till the elections would be held, Rao and his Council of Ministers will remain as the caretaker government, honouring the request made by the governor.
The past few weeks saw speculations being made on such a step being taken with the expectations rising to a new high during the party’s massive rally in Ranga Reddy district on Sunday.
KCR also announced that he would be addressing close to 100 public rallies, Praja Devana Sabhas, in about 50 days. As per reports, it is also being learned that KCR might his party’s election campaign from the public rallies in Husnabad in Siddipet district.
