3 things that will help you achieve this year’s resolutions

New Year Resolutions: We all very well know the countless promises we make to ourselves before the new year arrives. Though it is definitely a good initiative, how many of those such promises are we actually fulfilling? The joy and excitement we feel last only as long as our desire to maintain them. The problem lies within us, that we are tied to materialistic things and get emotionally attached and carried away by them, which results in a diversion and hence a gap of where you are right now and where you want to be.

Here are the three most commonly identified reasons why we all fail at keeping up our “New Year Resolutions”.

#1 Prolonged Procrastination

Actually, procrastination can sometimes be considered as a healthy habit as it gives you time to think about your objective and assess your previous ideas with respect to your current ones. But prolonged procrastination is the real killer. This type of procrastination occurs due to sheer laziness and lack of determination. It is the natural tendency of a human being to choose the easy way out of things. While in some cases, this might prove to be effective, it might have adverse consequences in the others. It’s always easy to not do things that require us to apply some kind of physical or mental effort and hence we postpone that work but little do we realise we have to finish the same work at some point of time. So it’s ok to procrastinate to some extent but not till all hell breaks loose!

#2 Lack of self-motivation

Yes! We fail miserably due to lack of self-motivation, We are driven by emotion and belief; in fact, that is what precisely makes us human; our ability to display and receive emotions. We have to be self-driven individually in order to bring about a change in our lives. We have to want it for ourselves and only then can we manifest a change that takes us closer to our goals.

#3 You are treating your life as a race when it is actually a journey

No one is going to give you a medal for settling down first, you will not have special privileges just because you learned or understood something better or quicker than someone else. The bottom line is whether you learn or understand something and not the rate at which it is achieved. Stop comparing yourself to other people, it’s not going to improve anything in your life but give all the more desperation which leads to haphazard decisions and ultimately failure. RUN YOUR OWN RACE AT YOUR OWN PACE!- Don’t let others influence your decisions and don’t interfere with the decisions of others, do what you believe because that’s what matters.

To believe something is special, all you got to do is believe.
