In yet another major loss to the Telugu film fraternity, popular director Kodi Ramakrishna passed away in a private hospital in Hyderabad. The filmmaker was recently admitted to a hospital after he complained of breathlessness and was eventually placed on a life supporter. However, he succumbed to a lung infection and breathed his last on Friday.
Kodi Ramakrishna was born in Palakollu in West Godavari and moved towards films at a young age. He debuted as a director in 1982 with Chiranjeevi‘s Intlo Ramayya Veedhilo Krishnayya and soon grew as a prolific director and delivered many hit films.
Known for directing numerous Telugu films, Kodi Ramakrishna’s career in Telugu film industry spanned for about three decades. He directed over 100 films and is credited for helming famous projects such as Ammoru, Sathruvu, Dongaata, Pelli Pandiri, and Arundhati among others.
While his works were predominantly in Telugu, he also directed films in Tamil, Malayalam, and Hindi. The veteran filmmaker was also hailed for his vision as his filmography included several films that were set apart with their technicalities; the likes of Devi, Devi Putrudu, and Anji being the notable ones.
It may be recollected that another noted Telugu filmmaker, Vijaya Bapineedu too passed away in Hyderabad recently. The 83-year-old was well-known for giving several hits to Chiranjeevi. Gang Leader, Khaidi No 756 and Big Boss were some of the popular films for which the duo of Bapineedu and Chiranjeevi had worked together.
