Kursura submarine not to be a part of integrated museum project in Vizag

Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development (VMRDA) are in the thoughts of delinking Kursura submarine from the integrated naval museum tourism project at Vizag beach road.

The naval museum project has been proposed at the beach road and since competitive proposals are coming up for the Kursura submarine exclusively, the officials are planning to delink it from the project.

Speaking to the media, VMRDA Commissioner P.Basanth Kumar said, “We may go in for development of the other major components including underground parking, driveway, Sea Harrier museum and development of greenery.”

“Several MLAs had raised certain issues on underground parking under conditions such as sea surge at the District Review Committee meeting held recently and it was explained to them that it was 100 % feasible technically,” he mentioned.

The Sea Harrier Aircraft

 and  3d Naval Aviation museums would be set up at a cost of 20 Crores at a tourism complex in Vizag. The complex would be integrated with the ‘Victory at Sea’ memorial, Rajiv Smriti Bhavan and AU Convention Hall which are close by.

The subway and parking would be accommodating more than1000 cars and two-wheelers each would be constructed near the complex.

An amount of Rs 60 crore is expected to be invested in the underground parking project. The project is deemed to be constructed in an innovative manner and is even expected to feature wall panels and shopping among others.

Also, aligning to the parking lot, a huge greenery park would be established.
