500 acres of land in Mudapaka was occupied overnight and the farmers have complained to Collector Pravin Kumar about the same. A person with political influence has reportedly occupied lands and constructed a road of a seven kilometre stretch overnight.
It is alleged that one Nadimpalli Venkata Ramaraju, has joined hands with the village Sarpanch’s husband Siyyadri Appa Rao and his brother Ramana to gain the original pattas, title deeds and the farmers’ signatures on white paper. They took possession of more than 500 acres of land and have denied access to the farmers.
30 farmers from Mudapaka, Govindapuram, Boddunaidupalem and Ramapuram villages in Pendurthi met the Collector and alleged that they were told that government has taken over the assigned lands that were allotted to them in land pooling. The alleged approached the farmers previously to pressurise them into selling their lands and threatened them when they denied.
Rs 10 lakh was offered for each acre with Rs 1 lakh as advance, but now even after four months, the farmers haven’t been given any agreement copy and now trees have been cut with a seven kilometre long road of 40 feet width. The collector confirmed to TOI that there was no land pooling done by either VUDA or GVMC.
He further stated that they have no idea about any road constructed and pointed out that the farmers should’ve complained to the police and district administration as soon as they were threatened. None-the-less he has promised that action will be taken against those responsible if the same is true.
