Taking the popularity of Andhra cuisine far and wide, Andhra Pradesh Tourism Authority (APTA) set a new record for making the longest Bamboo Chicken! By achieving the unique feat at Haritha Berm Park Resort in Vijayawada on Monday, the Authority has now broken into the India Book of Records. The chefs cooked the dish by stuffing 8 kg of chicken, along with other ingredients, in a 15-feet long bamboo shoot. It may be noted that the previous record in the India Book of Records stood with 8-feet long Bamboo Chicken, which was prepared in the Godavari region.
A tribal offering, known for its a unique style of country cooking, the famous bamboo dish follows the original bamboo cooking format that is known to render the bamboo aroma to the chicken and retain its nutritive values. Mostly popular in the Araku Valley of Visakhapatnam, these chicken recipe is also offered in Srikakulam, Khammam, and the East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh.
APTDC executive director TVSG Kumar and Chief Marketing Officer Srinivas Rao were present among others at the event in Vijayawada. It may be recollected that earlier, Andhra Pradesh Tourism had also set the record for the longest Poothareku with a 10.5 meter long variant of the popular Andhra delicacy.
