On 5 April 2022, the Visakhapatnam District Police have caught a lorry loaded with 57 bags of ganja. It was found out that the ganja filled bags weighed a whopping 2,280 kgs. On Tuesday, the police have initiated checks on the highway upon receiving a tip regarding a lorry smuggling ganja near Sontyam. After being noticed by the police, the lorry driver and cleaner fled the scene, leaving the vehicle at Neela Kundeelu Junction near Sontyam. The police have checked the lorry and uncovered the bags of ganja. The Visakhapatnam District Police have seized the ganja bags and are further investigating the case to find out the persons behind the smuggling racket. A case has been filed and the search for the lorry driver and cleaner has begun.
In a similar incident in Visakhapatnam, a person has been arrested for smuggling 15 kgs of ganja within the Kancharapalem Police Station limits. While conducting regular checks, the accused was caught with the illegal substance near Thatichetlapalem and was taken into custody.
3 persons were caught with 5 kg of ganja and ₹ 65,000 cash on them within the Kancharapalem Police Station limits in Visakhapatnam on 5 April 2022. The Task Force under ACP Trinadha Rao and Combating the Financing of Terrorism (CFT) team members set out on a raid on the same day at a house in Chakaligedda, Kancharapalem where they found the above-mentioned items.
3 persons were found in possession of ganja weighing 5kg packed in 3 packets and ₹ 65,000 cash. They were handed over to the Station House Officer (SHO) of the Kancharapalem Police Station. The three men were identified as Kadali Satyarao (24), Mudili Ramakumar (24) and Naveen Kumar (23). Out of the three men, the first two were residents of Paderu Mandal of Alluri Seetharama Raju District. The other person was found to be a resident of Bihar.
