It has been learned that the stage is being set to begin the work on the much-awaited International Convention Centre in Visakhapatnam. The convention centre by UAE’s LuLu group will be set up on the APIIC grounds at Harbour Park, with an estimated investment of a whopping Rs 700 crore. The city’s convention centre will be proceeding under the Private Public Partnership (PPP). Close to 13.83 acres of land has been allotted for the same by the government officials.
Reportedly, the construction will take 36 months and will consist of exhibition halls, five-star hotel, multiplex, and shopping mall among others, once completed. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu will lay the foundation stone during the CII Partnership Summit-cum-Sunrise AP Investment Meet being held in Visakhapatnam from February 24 to 26.
It was also reported that the government will allocate alternate lands in the city to the private players (CMR group) who gave their land for the construction of the convention centre.
A total area of 4.85 acres, in the areas of near HSBC (Waltair ward), Chinawaltair, Kirlampudi layout, MVP Double Road, Resapuvanipalem and Lawson’s Bay, will be given to the CMR group as a part of the land swap deal.
