In what is expected to be a show of strength of Mahagathbandhan, several national leaders will soon be visiting Andhra Pradesh to boost the chances of Telugu Desam Party President Chandrababu Naidu in the upcoming elections. Farooq Abdullah, Mamata Banerjee, Arvind Kejriwal, Deve Gowda, and Tejashwi Yadav are among the ones who will be campaigning for Chandrababu Naidu in the state. As part of the campaign, Mamata Banerjee and Arvind Kejriwal will be marking their presence in Vizag soon.
“By the end of this month, she (Mamata Banerjee) will visit Andhra Pradesh for a day or two to campaign for N Chandrababu Naidu. It is part of opposition unity that we all have worked for in the last few months,” a senior TMC leader was quoted as saying by NDTV.
Reportedly, both Mamata Banerjee and Arvind Kejriwal will campaign for TDP in Vijayawada and Vizag on 28 and 30 March respectively. While Farooq Abdullah has already arrived in the state to join TDP’s charge in Rayalaseema, Tejashwi Yadav is expected to participate in a public rally in Nellore. Reports further claim that HD Deve Gowda, on the other hand, is likely to campaign for Naidu in the bordering districts of Karnataka.
The move to field several national leaders in TDP’s campaigning, ahead of the elections, is being viewed as yet another showcase of the opposition unity. In Andhra Pradesh polls, Chandrababu Naidu, who played a crucial role in the formation of the Mahagathbandhan, will be leading his Telugu Desam Party against YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s YSRCP and other parties.
Andhra Pradesh is slated to go to both Assembly and Lok Sabha polls on 11 April.
