Medical Devices Park To Be Set Up in Vizag

The country’s first medical devices park will be set up in Visakhapatnam. The foundation stone for the same was laid on Friday by the state Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. The park has been named as Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ) and is located at Nadupuru Village near Visakhapatnam Steel Plant. An area of 270 acre has been allocated for the project and will provide jobs to around 25,000 people.

Medical drugs in India are manufactured at very cheap price but it is the manufacturing devices that are expensive as they are imported. This park would be of utmost importance in Vizag.

The CM said that this park is being developed under the patronage of Andhra MedTech Zone Limited. He is expecting at least 200-300 manufacturing companies to come up. 40 medical devices manufacturing firms have already given confirmation.

The project would be started in a year.
