With two proud cricketing nations set to lock horns in a fierce battle in Visakhapatnam, the cricket fever has gripped the city. India and Australia will be playing a T20I at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in the city on 24 February. With just about two days to go to the match, the city has been gearing up in several capacities to play a perfect host. On the other hand, the cricketers too have started to arrive in Visakhapatnam ahead of the game on Sunday. The procession of arrivals was kickstarted by Indian cricketer MS Dhoni on Thursday.
The legendary Indian cricketer arrived at the Visakhapatnam airport amid much fan frenzy. Arun Kumar of Andhra Cricket Association received the former Indian skipper. Chants of Dhoni filled the airport as the fans the area to click pictures with their favourite cricketer.
While the remaining Indian cricketers will be arriving in Visakhapatnam is succession, the Australian cricketers are scheduled to be here by Friday evening. Both the teams will participate in net practice sessions at the stadium on Saturday.
It may be noted that Visakhapatnam Collector Bhaskar Katamneni, Commissioner of Police Mahesh Ladda, VPT Chairman Krishna Babu and others visited the ground to review the arrangements made for the high-voltage clash.
After the first T20I in Visakhapatnam, India and Australia will travel to Bengaluru to play the second game in Bengaluru on 27 February. The T20I series will be followed by a 5-match ODI series, which will be kicked off in Hyderabad on 2 March in Hyderabad.
