“Honi ko unhoni kar de Dhoni”, “Dhoni Dhoni” and “Mahi Mahi”. These were the chants that reverberated in the campus of Lovely Professional University (LPU), Jalandhar. A very special guest had arrived on campus. Indian cricket team captain MS Dhoni was at LPU to launch the trailer of his upcoming biopic, ‘MS Dhoni — The Untold Story’. The film is based on the life of MS Dhoni and features Sushant Singh Rajput in the lead role whereas actress Kiara Advani stars as Dhoni’s wife, Sakshi Dhoni.
While interacting with students, Dhoni explained about the film and said it would show many untold aspects of his life, particularly his earlier life. “The film shows all challenges which I faced in my life and nothing is there in the film which only glorifies me,” he said.
In fact, Dhoni who came on a special charter plane, recalled his initial cricketing days when he used to travel by train, which took three days to reach Jalandhar. Here he would purchase his bats. “Jalandhar and Meerut have hold a significant place in my life and heart. No cricketer can ever forget his connection with these two cities, known for their world-class handcrafted bats,” said Dhoni. Therefore, to respect this special connection, the producers decided to hold the launch program in Jalandhar.
Dhoni also said that his personal life was significant but winning the World Cup was the most significant moment of his life. He shared that he was a firm believer in youth and when he heard that Sushant Rajput was going to play him on-screen, he was certain that Sushant would exactly portray him, particularly his playing style. “Sushant really proved me right as he worked hard for many months, went to the gym, and learnt how I walk and talk,” Dhoni said.
So here’s hoping that the film does really well and scores a century.
