Mumbai news reports the worst flood situation since 2005. Crippled by torrential rains and alarming high tides, the financial capital came to a still. This is the worst rains in 12 years and the public services and enterprises have come to a shut down. The Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis advised citizens in a tweet last night to stay home unless there is an emergency. The rains have flooded several parts of Mumbai and train services are halted. Commuters are stranded and common people are seen wading through water. The railway tracks are knee deep in water.
The weather officials are forecasting continuous downpour over the next 24 hours. 9 times the average rainfall has thrashed the city. Mumbai news updates show offices and schools shut down. The famous Dabbawalas have suspended delivery today. Yesterday rendered collecting tiffin boxes impossible. The people of the city are marking themselves safe and inviting stranded people to come over. Helpline numbers have been circulated.
