Minister of Municipal Administration & Urban Development, Botcha Satyanarayana, on Sunday, inaugurated another arm of the NAD flyover in Vizag. The newly opened arm will facilitate transport from NAD Junction to Gopalapatnam. The arm from Gopalapatnam to Marripalem is also expected to be thrown open to the public soon. The NAD flyover, once completed, will be inaugurated by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Minister stated.
Inspecting the construction works at the flyover, Botcha Satyanarayana said, “The arm towards Marripalem will be completed by this month-end. We have told the construction company to complete the remaining works of the flyover by November-end. Once completed, the NAD flyover will be inaugurated by Chief Minister YS Jagan.” The Minister also informed that the DPR for the metro rail project in Vizag is currently being prepared. The much-awaited project will also be launched soon, he said.
Tourism Minister Muttamsetti Srinivasa Rao, Visakhapatnam MP MVV Satyanarayana, Visakhapatnam South MLA Vasupalli Ganesh Kumar, Gajuwaka MLA Tippala Nagi Reddy, GVMC Commissioner G Srijana were among those who marked their presence on the occasion.
In July this year, the NAD flyover was partially opened – from airport to Naval Science & Technological Laboratory (NSTL)- for public use. Touted to ease the traffic congestion at the busy NAD Junction in Vizag, the flyover was flagged off in October 2017. While the flyover was slated to be opened for public use much earlier, several factors such as lorry strike, unavailability of sand, and the COVID-19-forced lockdown caused a delay, the firm responsible for the project had revealed earlier.
