In what is coming as a grave news, actor and politician Nandamuri Harikrishna has passed away after being severely injured in a road accident on Wednesday morning.
The 61-year-old, who is the son of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister NT Rama Rao, was declared dead at the Kamineni Hospital in Narketapally after being admitted there in a critical condition.
Reportedly, the former actor left Hyderabad during the early hours of Wednesday to attend a wedding in Nellore. The car, which was overspeeding, lost control when it hit a divider on the Vijayawada highway and flipped, thereby severely injuring those travelling in it. Harikrishna was thrown out of the car which left him serious injuries on head and chest.
Nandamuri Harikrishna’s sons, Jr NTR and Kalyanram, immediately rushed to the hospital. Several celebrities and eminent personalities, including the Chief Ministers of Telugu states have offered condolences to the sad demise of the actor. It has also been reported that Chandrababu Naidu and Nara Lokesh have taken a special chopper from Amaravati to reach Hyderabad.
Harikrishna’s oldest son, Nandamuri Janakiram, was also killed in a road accident in 2014. Jr NTR too was injured in a road accident in 2009 but escaped with injuries.
Nandamuri Harikrishna played an active role in the politics of Andhra Pradesh. He also acted in a few popular films including Seetharamaraju, Seethayya, and Sivaramaraju among others.
