Prime Minister Narendra Modi is slated to visit Vizag on 1 March to preside as the Chief Guest for the Praja Chaitanya Sabha being organised by BJP in the city. With the Prime Minister expected to address the public meeting on Friday evening, the top brass of the city’s administration has been busy tightening the security measures.
Reportedly, as many as 2200 police personnel will be deployed to for the security purpose of the event. It has been reported that four SPs, 6 additional SPs, 30 DSPs, under Commissioner of Police Mahesh Ladda, have been monitoring the security arrangements in the city.
The public meeting will be taking place at the Railway Exhibition Grounds at Thatichetlapalem in the city. From setting up barricades to preparing the stage, several arrangements are being carried on war-footing at the site. The site has also been inspected by dog squads and bomb squads.
Narendra Modi would arrive at the city’s airport via a special Indian Air Force flight. The route, by which the PM is likely to reach the Railway Grounds on Friday, is expected to be inspected thoroughly by police officials until Friday.
Given the cross-border tensions and the protests in the state by political parties and other organisations for not granting special status to Andhra Pradesh, the officials have been taking extra care of the Prime Minister’s security arrangements.
The BJP leaders have informed that as many as 50,000 people are expected to turn up at the public meeting on Friday in Vizag.
