The Union government has agreed to sanction 2000 crores for laying a two-way national highway that will connect the agency areas of East Godavari districts of Visakhapatnam and Vizianagaram. The national highway will be a big boon for the areas which are of very high potential. 418 kilometers is the length of the national highway. The national highway will begin from Rajamahendravaram and ends at Vizianagaram. The various locations it will touch are Gokavaram, Rampachodavaram, Addateegala, Rajavommangi, Chintapalli, Lambasingi, Paderu, Araku, Srungavarapukota and Vizianagaram.
A much needed boost to the area, the national highway project is set to be done without delay and the efforts of the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) will be ably supported by the state government. The present the two-way road is enough to cater to the needs of the traffic.
The adjacent areas of the national highway in the agency area will be developed. It will bring within reach the various tribal communities that have made their homes here. There is an optimistic outlook on the consequent advantages of the project.
The national highway has a primary objective also for improving tourism in these areas which are less frequented but potential hot spots.
Inspection of 67-km length of road between Gundugolanu and Kovvur was completed and an amount of Rs 4 crore was sanctioned to take up patchworks on the road.
