Navayuga sets a new world record at Polavaram in Andhra Pradesh

Setting a new benchmark in Global Engineering, Navayuga Engineering Company Ltd has achieved an unprecedented world record at the Polavaram dam project in Andhra Pradesh.

By pouring 32,315.5 cubic metres of concrete at the dam site in 24 hours, the company has got its name into the much-coveted Guinness book of world records. The personnel began to pour the concrete at 8 am on Sunday and finished the record-breaking feat at 8 am on Monday in the presence of officials from Guinness Book.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Nara Chandrababu Naidu, who marked his presence at Polavaram during the record, tweeted, “The lifeline of Andhra Pradesh, Polavaram project has entered the Guinness World Records today for pouring 32,100 cubic meters of concrete non-stop in 24 hours. Concrete work to make the spillway had begun at 8 a.m. on Sunday and concluded at 8 a.m. this morning.”

Chinta Sridhar, Managing Director of Navayuga, while addressing the reporters, said that completing a project of this scale would generally take three years. However, by working with the same passion and commitment, it could be completed by June this year.

“It is an extremely proud moment for Navayuga to be a part of such an iconic and landmark project in terms of its scale, expanse and impact on livelihood,” Mr Chinta was quoted as saying. He also informed that his company has broken a record that was previously held by a Dubai-based company, which had poured 21,500 cubic metres of concrete in a day.

Andhra Pradesh IT Minister, Nara Lokesh lauded the efforts and tweeted, ” The Guinness Record has been broken! Kudos to Navayuga Team for laying 32,000 cubic metres of concrete in 24 hours for #Polavaram project – a feat never achieved before. Special praise for every individual who has made it possible. Now this is called ful’filling’ dreams!”
