Air connectivity from Vizag has received a boost as new flights have been launched on the to Tirupati, Rajahmundry, Delhi, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru. In times when there exists a significant crunch over time slots at the Vizag Airport, these new flights act as a relief to the air travellers in and to the city.
According to the Visakhapatnam Airport authorities, SpiceJet will be operating a new flight from Bengaluru to Vizag from 31 October. Indigo, on the other hand, is set to launch an early morning flight from Hyderabad to Vizag from 16 December.
In an exclusive conversation with Yo! Vizag, Visakhapatnam Airport Director, K Srinivasa Rao informed regarding the timings of the new flights from Vizag to Delhi. Reportedly, Air Asia will be operating a late-night flight from Vizag to Delhi from 31 October. “The flight will leave the city of destiny at 11 PM and reach Delhi by 1 AM. The Air Asia flight will be the first late-night service to Delhi. This will help passengers to catch early morning flights from Delhi to domestic destinations,” he added. The Visakhapatnam Airport Director further said that after the Covid second wave, the airport registered the highest number of footfalls of 7,500 in a single day before the day of Dussehra.
It may be recalled that earlier this week, a non-stop flight was announced from Vizag to Tirupati, the temple city of Andhra Pradesh, and vice-versa. This flight is scheduled to begin operations from 16 December 2021 onwards. This non-stop flight from Vizag to Tirupati, and vice-versa, will be run by Indigo Airlines. Both the flights will run in the morning on a daily basis.
