New master plan being developed to transform Vizag: MP Vijayasai Reddy

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has been clear with his plan of decentralising administration in the state. In the latest, YSRCP Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, Vijayasai Reddy stated that a new master plan is being developed to transform Vizag. Stating that the Chief Minister is committed to developing Vizag by announcing it as the administrative capital, the MP also said that the city will witness “real transformation” in the near future.

Vijayasai Reddy recently participated in a plantation drive held in Gajuwaka, Vizag conducted by the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation. Earlier this month, the Visakhapatnam District Collector, Joint Collector among other top officials from various departments chalked out a plan in a District Forestry Committee meeting to execute the large-scale plans as part of the Green Andhra 2020-21 Campaign. As part of the campaign, it was decided that nearly 3 crore saplings will be planted across Vizag via NGOs, students and farmers. District Collector V Vinay Chand ordered that the saplings must be planted around government schools, offices, along road-sides, and government housing layouts in Vizag.

Earlier in June, Andhra Pradesh Governor Biswabhushan Harichandan stated that a fund of Rs 500 crore has been allocated to developing infrastructure in Visakhapatnam. He stated that the Andhra Pradesh state government is committed to decentralising administration and that the legal process in setting up of the three capitals is underway. The government will develop executive capital at Vizag, legislative capital at Amaravati and judicial capital at Kurnool, stated Governor Biswabhushan Harichandan. The officials have also revealed plans of setting up a metro, a tram service and developing other infrastructure in Vizag to compete with other Tier-1 cities in India.
