Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Shipping and Water Resources, Nitin Gadkari, will be laying the foundation stone for projects worth Rs 6,000 crore in Vizag. The Union Minister will be staying in the city from July 11 to 13.
The projects include-
- The existing four-lane NH-16 from Icchapuram to Narsannapet will be augmented to about 13.47 km (Cost: Rs 439 crore).
- Six-laning of NH-16 from Narsannapet to Ranasthalam (Cost: Rs 1350 crore).
- The existing four-laned NH-16 from Ranasthalam to Anandapuram to be six-laned (Cost: Rs 1817 crore).
- Six-laning of the road from Anandapuram to Pendurthi (Cost: Rs 2013 crore).
- Four-lane connectivity to Visakhapatnam Port from NH-16 (Cost: Rs 549 crore).
- Grade separator from NH-7 to Visakhapatnam Port Trust (Cost: Rs 40 crore).
Addressing the media on Tuesday, BJP senior leader Kambhampati Haribabu informed that Nitin Gadkari will also be dedicating the four-lane road connecting Vizag to NH-16. He further added that in the last four years, central government spent about Rs 1 lakh crore on several road projects in Andhra Pradesh.
Haribabu also said that he has spoken to Flag Officer Commanding in Chief of Eastern Naval Command, Karambir Singh, regarding the reduced time slots at the city’s airport.
