GCC Launches Organic Coffee Powder and Kumkum

Girijan Co-operative Corporation launched organic coffee and kumkum. The coffee has been named ‘Vaisakhi Coffee’ and is made up of 70% of coffee and 30% of chicory. The organic coffee is grown by the tribal people of the Visakha agency at Araku Valley and Paderu.

According to the Tribal Welfare Minister, R Kishore Babu, the coffee cultivated at the Visakha agency has gained a lot of market internationally. The state government is going to allot one lakh acres under coffee cultivation project in the district and will spent Rs 526 crore on it. He appreciated GCC for bringing the coffee directly from the farmers and making a market for it. The kumkum powder is also in much demand.

The GCC has already received orders worth Rs. 10 lakh from the famous Srisailam Siva temple in Kurnool district for kumkum, and we expect big orders from other temples in the state and outside as well,” added Kishore Babu.

The Vice Chairman and Managing Director of GCC, ASPS Ravi Prakash said that they have set a target of Rs 365 crore of which Rs 155 crore has already been generated. “GCC has waived farm debts of Girijan farmers to the extent of
