As a part of the 45-day Yatra in the three north coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh, Jana Sena Party President, Pawan Kalyan visited Araku Valley to learn about different problems which the Agency people have been facing.
He interacted with the Adivasis at Pothangi of Dumbriguda mandal in Araku and visited the area from where the Adivasis fetch water to drink from a gravity scheme. Pawan Kalyan, after tasting the water asked the villagers, “Is this the water you drink every day?”
Feeling distressed about the condition of the water, “ The Chief Minister should visit the villages in the Agency area and taste the water. Only then he will understand what real development is”, he said.
He ensured to the Adivasis that samples of the water will be collected and will be analysed at a laboratory in Hyderabad.
Pawan Kalyan later visited the Kasturba Gandhi School in Dumbriguda and interacted with the students and staff members of the school. He queried about the facilities in the school and their well being.
The villagers reported that the authorities were busy in exporting Araku coffee and are careless about the development in the region. On visiting a few PHCs, he got to know from the villagers that there were no doctors in a number of PHCs in the 12 Agency mandals. They alleged that the 104 ambulance service come up with a “no fuel” standard reply when called in cases of emergency.
Interacting with the local media, “I am appalled at the fact that some tribal girls hostels do not have compound walls and the campuses are infested with snakes”, the Jana Sena Party founder said.
