Actor and politician Pawan Kalyan expressed that he felt disappointed at the fact that only one Telugu person was awarded the Padma Award at the recently announced centre-given awards. “It would have been good if more Telugu people had got the honours,” the Janasena Party Chief was quoted as saying.
Addressing the party’s cadres after unfurling the national flag on the occasion of Republic Day, Pawan Kalyan said that he wanted the state governments in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to nominate legendary actors Savithri and SV Ranga Rao for Padmashri.
He also congratulated badminton player Kidambi Srikanth and music composer Ilayaraja for receiving the honours.
Pawan Kalyan recently concluded his ‘Praja Yatra’ in Telangana. Pawan had launched his political tour from Telangana on 22nd January. The politician had offered prayers at the Anjaneya Swamy temple Kondagattu in Jagtial district of Telangana before kickstarting his ‘Praja Yatra’. He had earlier announced that the party will contest elections in both the Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
The JSP honcho is now touring Anantapur in the state of Andhra Pradesh as a part of his political tour. Reportedly, he will visit Ongole to get to know about the problems faced by the people due to fluorosis and kidney ailments. Subsequently, he will be visiting the tribal areas of Visakhapatnam.
