The Government of Andhra Pradesh is looking forward to extend three-phase power supply to the rural industries by segregating the feeders at an approximate cost of Rs 4000 crore which will in turn promote the cottage industries at a larger scale. Chandrababu Naidu, the Chief Minister of the state has instructed the officials of the Energy Department to sketch out a special plan for this project.
The Chief Secretary of the Energy Department, Dinesh Kumar has said that the Chief Minister is keen on providing uninterrupted power supply to all rural and urban users at global standards. The necessary arrangements to meet the spurt in the demand of power caused due to the excessive usage of air conditioners was also asked to be made.
Ajay Jain, the Principal Secretary has said that they are fully geared up to meet the growing demand for power and have already successfully supplied 55,610 Million Units in FY 2016-17, which is 11% more than that of the energy which has been supplied in 2015-16.
However, the reliability index of the power supply has also improved by having prompt monitoring of interruptions using the System Average Interruption Duration and System Average Interruption Frequency Indices.
