More Than A Pretty Face – Regina Cassandra

One of the best-dressed Tollywood celebrities, Regina Cassandra is the kind of person who speaks her mind. In town for an event, team Yo! had the opportunity to catch up with her.

The Journey
“The last few years have been one hell of a journey. I’ve gone through major ups and downs in the past three years and they’ve left me with the realisation that this is what life is. I was a happy person when I spoke to Yo! Vizag last, and despite going through a lot, I realise, I’m still happy.”

Philanthropic Musings

Regina Cassandra in Vizag during HudHud

“The last time I was in the city, was during cyclone HudHud, when we were here to provide aid. I didn’t think twice before helping because, if something is within my power, I will surely help. I cycled from Kurnool to Hyderabad last year for the Aditya Mehta Foundation in support of para-athletes who do not receive enough recognition. ‘Teach for Change’ and ‘Life is a Ball’ are also foundations I work with. They teach government school students English and value education, and physical education respectively.”

‘Her’ by Chai Bisket
[c5ab_video c5_helper_title=”” c5_title=”” url=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y3pIQVYDpiM” width=”800″ height=”450″ ]“I loved the concept of the microfilm from the word go; and it was something I could see myself doing. It was shot in four hours between various commitments and the team was very patient with me. Just as the film portrays, when someone likes your work, you don’t want to hurt their feelings. But there’s a line people cross when they think you don’t deserve privacy just because you’re a public figure. At the end of the day, celebrities are human beings as well and people get offended when you don’t respond the way they expect you to.”

Yo! Vizag Magazine Print Edition Interview

Tamil Cinema vs Tollywood
“Tamil and Telugu film industries are vastly different in terms of content, and I like working in both. The heroines in Tamil cinema aren’t glam dolls; the focus there is on normalcy and looking the part. But in Tollywood, the heroines are stunningly depicted and the audience falls in love with them instantly!”

Upcoming Projects
“I’m doing Jyoachyuthananda

in Telugu with Nara Rohit and Naga Shourya, I play a dentist in the film. I’m also acting in a Tamil horror film called Nenjam Marappathillai, I’ve never had such a script before. Working with director Selvaraghavan was like being in acting school. He knows what he wants and you know you’re going to use what he’s taught you later in l

ife.”
