Beauty Cams, Candy Cams and let’s not forget the horrible animal ear and rainbow puke Snapchat filters that took over the internet and our smartphones in the past. The latest photo enhancing app to break the internet, Prisma, happens to be genuinely beautiful for a change.
Prisma, developed by Russian developers Prisma Labs Inc, is an iOS app that makes generic photos look like art. Through intelligent cloud processing, the app allows you to choose from filters of works of major artists such as Van Gogh, Picasso and even Hayao Miyazaki and apply them to your snapshots.
The pictures come out with watermarks, though that can be disabled in settings. The app is available to Android users in a Beta version through invite only and it is also reported that video, 360 degree, and more options may be added too. The 10 second lag time to apply a filter seems to be the only drawback Prisma has.
While Pokémon Go will still remain the app that tops the 2016 list, Prisma comes a close second with people all over the world using the app and overloading the servers. In the meanwhile, for the frustrated Android users who want an artistic picture right NOW, we bring you some alternatives:
Pikazo
“Pikazo is a collaboration between human, machine, and our concept of art. It is an experiment to see what emerges when anyone can create a masterpiece.”
PicsArt
“PicsArt allows anyone to connect through image sharing, art contests, and collaborative editing with the #FreeToEdit hashtag, as well as to share images on a variety of popular social platforms.”
SuperPhoto
“Tons of amazing effects and filters for your photos! Unique, outstanding effects you’ll love. Turn your photos into amazing art pieces with just one click!”
So have fun turning your selfies into a work of art!
