Ace filmmaker K. Raghavendra Rao is likely to take charge as Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam’s (TTD) next chairman. The post has been vacant for about a year now after the departure of the previous chairman Chadalavada Krishna Murthy.
Reportedly, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has also okayed the proposal of making Rao as TTD’s president.
“A top functionary in the government had a meeting with the director recently in Hyderabad. Now the government has sought his detailed profile to take the process forward. A communication from a Special Secretary has already gone to him”, a source close to The Hindu was quoted as saying.
TTD is one of the richest religious institutions in the world. The veteran filmmaker has been its board member since 2015 and has been one of the front-runners to be announced as the institution’s honcho, for quite some time now. Earlier, there were speculations doing rounds regarding the same in the Telugu film fraternity.
Other probable candidates for the post included TDP Kadapa leader Putta Sudhakar Yadav.
K. Raghavendra Rao is a renowned personality in the Indian film industry. He has produced and directed multiple films in Tollywood and has even been honoured with many awards to recognise his efforts.
