This comes in the wake of the massive protests being staged by the MPs of Andhra Pradesh in Loksabha and Rajyasabha. Also, February 8th saw various parties in the state come out in unison as they called for a Bandh across AP.
While the ruling party, BJP, is being blasted from various quarters of Andhra Pradesh, the party, along with Congress, is also being criticized for the “hasty passage” of the state bifurcation bill back in 2014.
The past few days have seen the parliament sessions been disrupted by the politicians from Andhra who have been demanding the government to fulfill the promises made to the state in 2014.
In addition to the Special Railway Zone, the state government had also urged the centre to release funds for the purposes of Amaravati, Kadapa Steel Plant and a railway division for the stretch between Vijayawada and Guntakal. The centre, however, hasn’t allocated “sufficient funds” and the leaders feel, the Modi government has handed over a “betrayal” to the people of Andhra Pradesh.
