“It’s time to catch up with old batchmates, professors, staff and memories of days gone by. It is time for the Grand Alumni Meet!” reads the Andhra University alumni invitation for Waves 2018. The much-awaited annual alumni programme will be held on 10 December at AU Convention hall on the Beach Road, Vizag. More than 6,000 former students of Andhra University have registered for the event. The mass registration is seen to have been especially sparked by the announcement of the Doyen of The Indian Industry, Shri Ratan Tata as the Chief Guest.
Gracing the event on the birthday of AU’s first Vice Chancellor, CR Reddy, The Padma Vibhushan recipient is flying to Vizag on 10th December for the event.
Commemorating Ratan Tata’s victories, a pylon will be established by the AU officials on the Beach Road which will be unveiled by Tata himself.

10:00 AM to 1:00 PM: Alumni to assemble at the respective departments
2:00 PM to 3:00 PM: Campus round by the alumni
3:00 PM to 4:45 PM: Cultural programs and address by illustrious alumni
5:00 PM to 7:30 PM: Main event
About the significance of the date
“In 1926 January, Justice Party (India) decided to establish Andhra University at Waltair and CR Reddy was the natural choice for appointment as its first Vice- Chancellor. He made AU a great center of higher education and outstanding research in both sciences and humanities,” A Prasanna Kumar, Former Rector of AU, told The Hans India.
