What comes in as a happy news is a decline in the crime rate against women in Andhra Pradesh during the last three years.
All thanks to the AP Police officials for implementing various initiatives in the recent years like SHE team, Mahila Police volunteers, Shakti Project, Mahila Mobile cops, and Sakhi One-Stop centres.
The 1091-women’s helpline, 1098-child helpline, 100- police helpline and 15100-Pre-Legal Service (DLSA) along with a few mobile applications are standing out as help for the women who seek police for protection.
In two districts namely Kadapa and Anantapur, Mahila police volunteers have been deported with 1,500 volunteers and 1,482 volunteers respectively. If progressing well, the initiative would be implemented in other districts too.
The seven anti-human trafficking units have been set up in Guntur, Anantapur, Eluru, Tirupati, Nellore, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam with one inspector and two sub-inspectors per unit.
An official, relating to this, has quoted, ” We are making constant efforts in interstate coordination mechanism relating to human trafficking through the State Crime Records Bureau, inter-state conferences, and border state conferences.”
