Jio changed the face of Indian telecommunication by offering all the features of Reliance Jio SIMs for free till December this year under the Jio Welcome Offer with unlimited 4G internet, voice calls and SMS. But reports surface that it might be free till March next year.
Reliance Jio is now aiming to get even the people who remain sceptic to convert to Jio by offering a SIM home delivery service. While the system is still in its pilot phases, it’s being first rolled out in Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Pune, and Ahmedabad. It will soon be available in Visakhapatnam, Chandigarh, Jaipur and other cities. While there’s no information as to when the service will be available from, here’s how to apply for the free home delivery.
If people in your housing complex or office are also interested in getting Jio SIMs, one can now invite a Jio representative to come to their home or office. The SIMs will be handed out in exchange for an Aadhar card and fingerprint authorisation. To register one must head over to the Jio website and choose if they’re inviting the representative to their housing complex or enterprise. After choosing, fill out the form and submit. Alternately, missed call can also be given to 1-800-200-200-9 from your smartphone to get an invite link. Once the form is submitted you will get a call from a Jio representative to set an appropriate time for the visit. There need to be a minimum number of 40 people to avail this service.
All Jio 4G SIM cards activated before December 3 are eligible for the Jio Welcome Offer. This move seems to be an effort on Reliance’s side to change the fact that it is struggling with subscriber growth and the run rate has fallen to 50% after the first 15 days of its launch. After the demonetisation, there has been a 40-50% dip compared to last month. Reliance’s target is to achieve 100 million subscribers by December end and if it doesn’t reach the target by then, the offer might extend till March.
On the other hand, Reliance Jio has been directed by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) to end the welcome offer by December 3 this year.
