Unless you were living under a rock, it’s an already known fact that a movie is being made on legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar. ‘Sachin – A Billion Dreams’ is more than just about the legend’s cricket career, it covers various high and lows of his life. The trailer for the film was launched in a packed Juhu auditorium on April 13.
During the launch, Sachin Tendulkar told the media, “This film has helped me relive the important moments of my life through its making! I remain a private person but realised that there is much I have not revealed or spoken about, to those who have been instrumental to my life and career, especially my fans. I hope the film will be yet another avenue for fans who have showered their love and blessings on me, to cherish the journey that we undertook together for over 24 years.”
He further stated, “This movie is not just about my cricket career. It has many different chapters and we have tried to show those chapters as well. James has shown many sides of my personality in the movie, which many people are not aware of.” Director James Erskine flew in from UK especially for this trailer launch. He stated that he’s wanted to make Sachin’s story since long and doing so now makes him feel like he’s narrating India’s story through one man. Talking about Sachin he said, “I have seen how Sachin is looked upon in England. So I can imagine how he is in India.”
Also present at the launch were Producer Ravi Bhagchandka of 200NotOut, and Shrikant Bhasi, Founder and Chairman of Carnival Group. The film is all set to release on May 26 and weeks ahead of the big day, the filmmakers have reportedly sold the distribution rights of the film to Anil Thadani, who owns the distribution right of the Hindi version of Baahubali.
The biopic will feature Sachin himself in the movie with the touch of Oscar winning music composer Maestro, AR Rahman.
