SHE teams to be deployed in Vizag for enhancing women security in the city

With an aim of enhancing women safety and establishing a robust security system in Vizag, the officials would soon be deploying ‘SHE teams’ in the city. A ‘SHE team’ is composed of women police officers who work towards taking action against those harassing women and building a safe and secured environment for them.

What does a ‘SHE team’ do?

Among multiple activities, a ‘SHE team’ typically does the following to ensure women safety in the areas where they are deployed:

  • Keep an eye on the activities of individuals who are suspected of indulging in eve-teasing or other harassments on women.
  • Patrol in areas where cases of offenses against women are reported.
  • Gather proofs and pieces of evidence against the accused and register cases against them.
  • Interact with women from different colleges to get to know the issues being faced by them.

While the officials are considering forming ‘SHE teams’ with a few efficient officers, further details are expected to be announced soon.

“SHE teams are being deployed by keeping the safety of women in mind. The personnel will be taking a note of the situations in different parts of the city and taking severe action against those found guilty of harassing women in the city,” city’s Commissioner of Police, T Yoganand

, was quoted a saying.
