The three member SIT (Special Investigation Team) consisting of Greyhounds DIG Vineet Brijal, Joint Collector G Srijana and Deputy Executive Officer of TTD Lanka Vijay Sarathi has formally begun the inquiry process into Visakhapatnam land scam. The SIT has been set up by the government to inquire into the same.
Commissioner of Police T Yoganand stated that the SIT will be conducting an inquiry and submitting a report to the state government via the commissionerate in two months. While the SIT is empowered to inquire and file a report, they are reportedly not equipped to investigate or register cases. The SIT will be zoning in on persons tampering land records and identifying the beneficiaries of the same.
Measures will be suggested by the unit to rectify the tampered records and inquiries will be launched whenever any person submits complaints of files petitions pertaining to the same. The SIT will not be dealing with issues of encroachment, title deed disputes or any site disputes. The Mudapaka issue however will be dealt by local police and not by the SIT.
The team will be looking into all the tampering cases in the district and not just in Madhuwarada and Kommadi. If a person approaches with specific grievances, a complaint will be registered and acknowledgement given. They already have 168 petitions to look at and six officers have been deputed to the team for assistance.
