Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Nara Chandrababu Naidu posted on his FB that his vision for skill development of Andhra Pradesh will take into account the overall vision of the state. The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship is looking at promoting a ‘culture of innovation based entrepreneurship to ensure sustainable livelihoods for all citizens in the country’.
To create a skilled workforce of 2 crore people that contribute in a significant manner to the country’s target of reaching a skilled workforce of 40 crore people by 2020 is the state government’s agenda.
The Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) comes under the Department of Skill Development, Entrepreneurship and Innovation. It exists to strengthen and enhance the skill development in AP. It will be the implementation wing of the new Department. The APSSDC plans to take roots in Vishakhapatnam, Kakinada, Guntur, Nellore, Chittoor, and Anantapur districts. Each of the clusters in these districts, will consist of six colleges called Centres of Excellence, and will focus on 2-3 sectors.
The state government hopes to skill 70% of the labour force or at least over 50% of its working age population by 2029.
