If reports are to be believed, India’s tallest sky tower will be coming up in Visakhapatnam, atop Kailasagiri Hill. It will be standing tall at 120 meters above sea level and will come up in less than one year.
The tallest sky tower will offer a beautiful view of the sea and the city. A MoU regarding the same will reportedly be signed on January 6 between VUDA or APTDC and Mumbai based Bombay Amusements Ltd. and Hyderabad based Swarnamukhi EXIM Pvt Ltd. The project estimated to cost Rs 70 crore will have a special purpose vehicle launched for it.
The tower that will stand at 120 meters can withstand a wind speed of 300 kilometers per hour. On top of the tower will be an air conditioned restaurant that can seat 70 and will revolve, a la the one in Auckland. A range of amusement parks will surround the tower. The tower will be built by a German based manufacturing company.
The Executive Director of AP Tourism Development Corporation, R Sriramulu Naidu stated that they have identified three locations for the tower. One site is in Yendada – adjacent to NH-16, another atop Madhurawada – close to the IT SEZ and the third is atop Kailasagiri Hill. The promoters will choose a site and reach an agreement.
A team will be meeting higher officials tomorrow in Vijayawada and meet with VUDA and APTDC officials before finalising the agreement. The promoters have been suggested to consider Endada or Madhurvada as the Kailasagiri Hill is jam packed with Telugu Museum, Circular Rail and other things. However, the Hyderabad company is interested in Kailasagiri as it not just offers an amazing view of the city, but is the most visited too. Also, Kailasagiri will add on to the height, adding 300 feet and placing the tower 650 feet above sea level.
After it is built, the national flag will be hosted atop the tower to mark it as the highest sky tower in the country. The German company has requested to be given one year time as they are preoccupied with other orders. The sky tower is yet to be named and is expected to be a huge tourist attraction in the state.
