Visakhapatnam will soon get two smart police stations with a glass façade, air conditioning and green ambience surrounding it. After the inauguration of a smart police station in Guntur, DGP N Sambasiva Rao had plans to build 100 model police stations in the state.
Each district will get two model police stations in the first phase. Such stations are also lined to come up in different police commissionerates. The city police has proposed to revamp the Arilova and PM Palem stations as model stations as they are in need of renovation. The rural police have similarly recommended the Anakapalli and Narsipatnam police stations due to them catering to a large population and experiencing increasing litigation.
“We have proposed two police stations to be constructed as model police stations. We are awaiting sanction for the same,” city police commissioner T Yoganand told TOI.
The Nagarapalem station will be set up over an area of 3000 square feet. The city and rural police stations will both be built up similarly, complete with reception counters like corporate offices. Most of the designs will be made of glass, with cabins allocated to officers and police personnel according to their ranks. The station will have custody and detention rooms and the station itself will be monitored by CCTV cameras. Spacious parking lots are also to be expected in these smart police stations.
