The path seems all cleared for Hereon Solar Private Limited, a Chinese firm, to set up a multi-crystalline solar PV cells manufacturing unit in Vizag. The Andhra Pradesh government has finally amended certain criteria to help the firm avail incentives to set up the unit.
The plant is to be established in phases with an investment of INR 1,188 crore, an employment potential of 1,162 people and an initial capacity of 160 MW which is expected to reach 1,000 MW in 3 years. An allowance of 33 acres near Achyutapuram is granted to HSPL along with Trina Solar, another Chinese firm.
The deal was finally on roll as State Investment Promotion Board has amended generic package of incentives criteria by replacing 250mw-500mw category with 100mw-500mw category with minimal investment of INR 100 crore. Dalmia Bharat Group of India is also a part of the this joint venture firm of HSPL.
Seems like the words of Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, about A.P. being a solar power hub, are going to be true in the city of destiny!
