Southwest monsoon is finally here in Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam. It covered only some parts of South Coastal Andhra Pradesh and entire Rayalaseema on Tuesday and advanced into the remaining areas on Wednesday.
Last year, the monsoon had reportedly covered the entire coastal AP by June 18. Usually, the southwest monsoon covers Andhra Pradesh and Telangana by June 10. The onset of monsoon plus or minus four days the regular onset date is reportedly normal.
The district has seen moderate to heavy rainfall on the date of onset and the city alone saw 40MM rainfall in most areas. The monsoon has further advanced to west central and northwest Bay of Bengal, parts of South Chattisgarh and Odisha.
20 automatic weather stations received heavy rainfall between 64.5-115.5MM, 105 stations registered rainfall between 15.6-64.4MM and 29 stations registered between 2.5-5.5MM.
